	Economy and production.
	Agricultural and cattle-raising is the main economical life of Aegion district, with intense commercial activity and an efficient port. An old notable industrial activity in Aegion district has been lost, with only one exemption, the state army manufacture industry Ε.Β.Ο. Agricultural products that are produced in Aegion territory are the following: Citrus fruits, legumes, potatoes, raisin (Vostitsa brand and Sultana), wines, grapes, various fruits, olive oil, vegetables - garden vegetables. Cattle-raising products: non elaborated leathers, animals for slaughter, milk products. Industrial products: paper, arms, various agricultural products. There is a active tourist movement, Aegion has been placed up to B' tourist category. There are available for the public intellectual institutions, modern hospital, spacious stadium and closed gymnasium.


	Agriculture
	The hillsides of the region, full of vineyards and olive groves, offer a wonderful scenery. Raisins are cultivated here since ancient times as well as wine and olive oil. Aigialia is well known for its excellent wines virgin olive oil and world's best raisins. Ministerial decision of 1996 defines region as Local side wines Aigialia producer. Already wines from Roditi grapes belong to Patra brand of high quality origin. The local Union of Cooperatives (P.E.S.) supports biological agriculture and production without the use of chemicals, thus guaranteeing a high quality. One of the famous local wines is Asprolithi, produced in an exemplary wine factory that can be visited in the village Selinous (Tel: (26910) 29-415). Significant step to Aigialias development is biological agriculture. Aigialia is in the first line of Greek's biological agriculture, since already over 2900 acres of olive trees, 1000 acres of Vostitsa sultans, 1700 of citrus fruits, 480 acres of grapes, and 120 acres of other trees are cultivated this way.
